How We Do It
A Program for Everyone
We strive to assist the parents and families of ECEAP children, along with other community members, to gain the skills and self-sufficiency necessary to lead healthy and successful lives. The RIFC provides quality early childhood educational programs, effective inter-agency referrals, and meaningful ESL, parenting, computer, and job readiness classes.
The programs offered at the RIFC provide one of the most-needed services to any community: education. With RIFC offering a wide-range of inclusive educational opportunities for preschool children and adults, RIFC helps create successful futures for children and families. Additionally, the Refugee and Immigrant Family Center’s ECEAP program has been chosen as the model site by the City of Seattle, commending its well-run program.
Our Early Childhood Education Program
The RIFC has been recognized by the City of Seattle as the model site for the ECEAP program and recently received funding to expand its early childhood education programs to more families and children. The RIFC is committed to providing outstanding education and family support, and has been profiled by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for its innovative programming and leadership.
We provide free preschool education to help children from low-income families succeed in school and beyond. We provide nurturing staff, developmentally and culturally appropriate classroom activities, health, developmental screenings, and family support.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
The RIFC offers free ESL courses with varying levels of instruction.
Our Family Resources and Support
Serving as a resource center for parents and families is a central component of the RIFC’s work. As part of the ECEAP program, RIFC provides support and referrals to other social services available in the Seattle area to parents and families including the Department for Social and Human Services, local non-profit organizations, housing and employment agencies, childcare, and immigration services.
